working

so last week i didnt get too much exercise - i was swamped at work - much like this week again except this week so far im getting some physical work done too

las tweek was terrible for sleep culminating in staying up until 3 sunday a.m. trying to finish my work - so far this week i've turned that around big time - and I'm going to bed as soon as this update is done - i'mkeeping alist of hours slept which is some motivation and have set the goal of 63 hours a week - yeehaw

sunday was a great day for being active - rolled up to y'mouth and colin and i popped our geocaching cherries - justa lot of walking around - i threw in a little bouldering - but spending the day walking is a lot for this (so far) sedentary journalist :(

monday i go tup and out for a jog Up Up UP and around digby plus some push ups and crunches - tuesday i did a huge bunch of stretching and working out a little and tuesday night i did a bunch of garden work for the woolavers including digin up to big beds for tomaotes - yeehaw - thats exercise!!

wednesday i spent a lot of time runing through the woods - i saw two waterfalls and was on the trail of a third - joe casey believe it or not showed me the way to mill brook falls, otis sproul told me the way to delaps and i just blundered around in the woods looking for a falls in kniffen's hollow with no idea if one even exists there - that was a nice hour of clambering through the woods over rocks and big fallen treees. - missed soccer practice :(

eating well too and emotionally very coooool - gnight

sunday runday

jony and i had a great afternoon of completely unplanned exercise - we were looking for somewhere to go hiking when i saw a scribble on the map - two faint cirlces joined by an even fainter arc

we guessed i had marked it after reading or hearing about a waterfall but i simply could not remember making those marks - so off we went with no idea what we were getting ourselves into

we found the dirt road, followed it for 20 minutes into the hills, over a few rocky bridges and voila - a street sign in the middle of the woods: "Falls"

had a great 30 minute hike along a foour wheeler trail - had to make frequent detours around big soupy puddles - we jogged and jumped and got our heart rate up for sure - a seriously steep and tricky climb down into gorge - then a lot of bouldering around the top of the falls - i think yoga and bouldering would both be very practical studies for me to undertake

put some photos of James River Falls on my flickR page:

i also coached soccer last night back in digby: not as strenous as last time but it was nice to be outside and moving aorund - and i got to play goalie

colin and andrea decided against running bluenose - maybe ill be in shape before they are ready to run another... and i can go with.. who knows

keeping a list on my fridge - doing one more push up and crunch every day

183

after work took the soccer ball over to the park and tried some juggling - robert hersey, the u16 head coach and i were talking about it at lunch - and it got me revved up - managed 57 on feet alone and 183 on a combined juggle - then tried to walk around the park path - going to keep working that until i can do the loop

about 20 minutes of juggling - back at home i did some more sit ups and push ups and then strethced all over - leg and back especially - aint life fun

eating sleeping resting all good
feeling positive

so stiff

i felt great laying in bed but when i started up the muderous hill behind my house i realized right away that my hamstring was so tight you could play a concerto on it - as far as that goes everything is sore - a good sore - a not-going-to-stop-me sore - hopefully i'll be half rested before next sunday when i may end up doing it all over again - eatin again, sleeping and trying to hang out with decent people who don't fuck with my head too much - that pretty much rules out all women ;D

life is fun
and i may start yoga - a good place to meet some flexible women and get in shape at the same time - life is fun

flexible givers with a good attitude

hamstrung

busy weekend baby - did some intense gardening for shirley and some wood splitting for phillip - i am glad to have a place like that to play at splitting wood - some day maybe ill be able to do it like a pro??

then soccer practice - the boys only had nine so i offered to even it up - killers! then scimmage - i am one sore old man - the sprint at the end of the killer has my bad hamstring (right - from that stupid sledding accident) so tight you could play a tune on it - i am hobbled - whole body hurting - which is good - look out pudge, your days are numbered

going to make a big stew tonight which means im eating again which means energy which means im working out more

also taking a mulitvitamin now - rober got me started on the weekend and i bought more today - and smoothies starting tomorrow - :D

little steps

wow -when you read that mission statement at the top, you gotta admire the ambition - but it is all a work in progress.

my big progress this week was getting myown place with a shower -so now i can run - those hills in digby are going to be awesome - and bear river is going to be the ultimate in getting strong with all the wood chopping and incredibel hills to run and hike

i did go for a real long walk one night this week and it felt good to be out there exploring again - it will be even better when i am stronger -

feeling very positive - colin and andrea are entered in the bluenose - i need to get to where i can join those two the next time - i'll be ready soon - little steps

given'er one more time

i m glad i didnt publicize this blog as i have been really slack exercise wise - moving and getting ready to move and finally the chaos of settling in here have made it IMPOSSIBLE to exercise - i move friday and then the given'er really starts again - it is sad to read back at all the false starts - must see if i can avoid that in the future - before i leave digby i want to be back in shape - i have been talking to a guy about kicking a soccer ball around -

and i went for a run sunday around bear river - went as slow as i could and still could not make it up the hill below the woolavers - bfore the summers is out i will be watzing up it LOL

anyhoo - i hope no one is reading this - until i become super skip given'r
